Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has encouraged its application in the field of education, one of which is through the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) as digital learning media. This study aims to analyze students’ understanding of the use of LMS and to identify the obstacles encountered in its utilization. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving third-semester students of the Educational Administration Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bogor Raya who acted as administrators in the use of LMS for the Educational Technology course. Data were collected through interviews, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using source triangulation. The results indicate that students generally understand LMS as a digital learning platform used to access learning materials, submit assignments, and obtain academic information. However, the level of students’ understanding varies, particularly during the initial stage of LMS usage. The obstacles encountered include difficulties in understanding certain features, system limitations, and unstable internet connections. Nevertheless, students made various adaptation efforts such as self-learning, peer discussions, and seeking guidance from lecturers. Overall, the use of LMS has a positive impact on students’ learning independence and learning management, although continuous assistance and technical training are still needed to optimize its utilization.
