Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of weekly literacy programs in fostering reading habits among students at the Muhammadiyah Puraseda Junior High School library. Low reading interest among students is a problem that can impact their ability to understand information and the learning process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through simple interviews with one respondent, namely a student at Muhammadiyah Puraseda Junior High School who participated in the literacy program. The data obtained was analyzed narratively to describe the implementation of the program and its impact on students' reading habits. The literacy program was carried out every Friday morning before learning activities began with 15-20 minutes of reading non-curricular books. The results showed that the weekly literacy program was able to improve students' reading habits in the school environment. Students who previously rarely read began to get used to reading regularly. In addition, this program also had a positive impact on improving students' knowledge and understanding of subject matter. However, students' reading habits outside the school environment were still inconsistent. Limitations in the library's book collection, both in terms of quantity and variety, are one of the obstacles to implementing the program. Therefore, it is necessary to improve library management, add to the book collection, and develop a variety of activities.
